The original piece used to comprise of copyrighted characters in silhouettes cheering as a crowd to a character under spotlights in a theater. Although the silhouettes, the lights held in rope, a chair, and theater are removed due to the work utilizing images that aren’t of my own or have copyright that prohibits utilization without permission or practicing in the confines of the license. Usually in these assignments, I utilize images taken from the google search engine and edit them to serve the purpose in the artwork. It could be considered fair use if it’s for student work, but just to be safe the images are taken out to show work I’ve done myself and not mislead anyone that I’ve done something that I didn’t.

For the character depicted, I based it on myself in a cartoonish style, without the glasses, and has homages to the decisions we make while creating artworks. First, there’s a plastic sleeve poking out above the character to indicate the character being drawn as a cell frame of animation. Next, the rough sketch of the legs appears behind the character to show the process from idea to completion. Then, we see the complete drawing of the legs have the color fill only apply to this blue triangle area to reference a sticky note created to fix errors. Lastly, the character’s hoodie uses a texture of a crumbled graph paper to represent shows that utilized patterns to mesh with characters for their clothing. These different elements of the creation process are here as an interest to how those industries handle creating their projects.
