For this project, I wanted to reflect on what I felt in my soul, but the pursuit had changed to focus on what my own eye meant to me. While conceptualizing, I wanted to create the narative of myself feeling lonely and desperate to be rescued by an outside source. When I took a long time to create the design of the trees, this concept was left abandoned when focus shifted in recreating my own eye. It’s merely a representation, but the eye can serve to represent us in what we’ve witnessed in our lives. Whether it be a good memory or a negative one that we want to forget, our eyes allow us to see what we’re able to witness in the physical world. When I see this eye illustration, I think of what I am as a person and how I influence those around me; either positively or negatively. I hope when people see this eye, they can reflect on how they use this integral body part in their lives.
